The complete renovation of these two rationalist-style buildings, designed between 1968 and 1970 by the architect Raimon Torres on the slopes of the port of San Miguel in Ibiza, is part of a triple hotel project, next to the newly built Hotel San Miguel. This commission, from HI Partners hotel group, was partially developed in conjunction with Romano Arquitectos.
The Galeón and Cartago hotels colonize the rugged coast until they almost reach the sea, but the great force of its 8 floors is mitigated by the staggered adaptation in terraces that seek to mimic the cliffs of the place, while offering privileged views from all common spaces and rooms. The project raises the integral reform of the two hotels, where the main objective is to recover the quality of the natural environment improving substantially the conditions of habitability and quality of all its spaces. In short, we aimed to create a contemporary hotel, comfortable and in contact with the surrounding nature that allows a profitable and responsible exploitation of its environment. Our intervention contemplates the totality of the work, from the architecture.
