This refurbishment project is located right in the old quarter of Premià de Mar (Barcelona).
On the first floor of an old village house, a total transformation of the space is planned to locate a dwelling. Taking advantage of the free height of the floor, the house is transformed into a two-level space.
After a complete structural refurbishment, the original wooden beams are uncovered and left visible, as well as part of the original solid handmade brick walls, which after being cleaned, the interior finish of the room is transformed.
The result of the work is a very open-plan floor plan, with two bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen/dining room space and a loft that is completely open on the ground floor, which increases the small size of the dwelling. A terrace/gallery on the interior facade with a ceramic jalousie finish over a large courtyard generates a double skin that allows the house to enjoy natural lighting and climate control, which combined with the new insulation, allows a very high level of energy control and savings.
